Welcome to the world of cars
The BMW X6 is the godfather of coupelike SUVs, comparable to Don Corleone. The original, which debuted in the late 2000s, is credited with inventing the contentious breed, which has since spawned replicas from Audi and Mercedes-Benz.
When it comes to these controversial crossover coupes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the sloped-back Bimmer sports a pair of magnificent engines: a 335-hp inline-six-cylinder (40i) and a 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 (M50i). The latter will appeal to thrill seekers, but it comes at a high cost.
Both engines are connected to a silky-smooth automatic gearbox. The six-figure X6 M (reviewed separately) offers the best performance, but even the less extreme variants are fun to drive. Although the conventional X5 is more upright and utilitarian, the 2022 BMW X6 is equally as sumptuous on the interior and more suited to extroverts.
